WHAT’S IN THE 2022 USA HANSON BOX
The 2022 USA Hanson Box is the result of a partnership between the Avangrid Foundation, the Don Hanson Charitable Foundation and the Jane Goodall Institute USA Roots & Shoots movement.
In September, 2022, we will be sending one resource box to each of 2,500 schools across the USA for the benefit of tens of thousands of American students.
The 2022 USA Hanson Box contains four specially-designed resources that cover a broad range of subjects in the national curriculum, including biology, English, art, geography, history, ecology, environmental sciences and natural history.
Each box contains:
– Incredible Earth -The World’s Most Spectacular Geography
This 160 page book explores the most spectacular and unusual landscapes, geographic features and phenomena on Earth. It is intended to excite and awe young minds and inspire the next generation of explorers and geographers.
– What On Earth? The Creatures You Have Never Heard Of!
This book showcases several hundred animals that most children will likely have never heard of. All children are familiar with about 30 key animal species: cats, dogs, horses, rabbits etc., but what about the 1.5 million or so other animal species on Earth, e.g. Okapi, agoutis, cologus etc.? This book is intended to broaden the imagination of children and encourage curiosity and appreciation of the natural world!
– Incredible Universe Volume 1: The Solar System
A 160 page book that explores the wonders of solar system. The book opens with an overview of our understanding of the observable universe and then explores our solar system, examining each planet systematically and in turn. The closing chapters of the book focus on the astonishing accomplishments of recent years exploring Mars, and a look towards the next chapter of space exploration. This book is designed to make physics, astronomy and maths classes come alive!
– What on Earth? The Plants You’ve Never Heard Of!
Forget pansies and daffodils, this book explores the unbelievable plants that call our world home! From flowers over 2 metres tall, to carnivorous plants that catch animals as big as rats. As we journey through the most amazing members of the plant world, we’ll meet the world’s smelliest flowers, plants with iridescent blue leaves, deadly plants, sensitive plants (with leaves that move), the world’s weirdest blooms and countless other amazing members of the plant world!
